Brief geographical characteristics 

Kavarna municipality covers an area of 481,4 square km in Dobrich district and is located in two physico-geographical zones – the eastern Danube Valley and the southern part of Dobrudzha Plateau. It borders the municipalities of Balchik in the west, General Toshevo in the southwest, Shabla in the north and the Black Sea in the south.

The municipal center is located at 540 km from Sofia and 60 km from Varna.

Kavarna municipality has a unique natural and very high bioclimatic potential, which determines its socio-economic outlook and prospects for development[1]. The most important elements of this potential are the sea and coastal areas (the coastline is indented and very attractive), and fertile arable land – more than 75 % of its territory[2].
