    Relief

Kavarna municipality is characterized by flat and hilly relief. The predominant forms of relief are at an altitude between 100 and 150 m, with the highest point of 162 m north of the village of Topola.

Kavarna coast is picaresque and extends 42 km, with a total area of beaches of 74 000 square meters. Near the town of Kavarna an artificial beach is created to protect the existing landslide from sea abrasion[1].

Here is the biggest and most famous natural attraction on Dobrudzha coast –Kaliakra Cape. It juts out 2 kilometers into the sea. Its face is a purple colored rock with a height of 70 m, while the Sarmatian limestones building the cape are horizontal and white[2]. The purple color is due more to the red soil that fills the cracks between them.

Underwater relief is characterized by marine terraces at different depths, on which shafts of different sizes are formed[3].
