Settlement structure 

Balchik municipality includes 22 settlements – 1 town and 21 villages. Classified according to the number of their population, most of the villages fall in the categories very small and small. Exceptions are the villages of Obrochishte (2476 inhabitants), Sokolovo (1117 inhabitants) and Kranevo (705 inhabitants)[1]. The villages of Bryastovo - 5 inhabitants and Karvuna - 3 inhabitants are almost deserted. Albena Resort Complex located on the territory of the village of Obrochishte has the status of a settlement formation (of national importance)[2].

The predominant orientation of the local economy to tourism is a reason for the concentration of the population in the southeast part of the municipality, mainly in the municipal town of Balchik and in the villages of Kranevo and Obrochishte.
