The area falling with the administrative boundaries of Shabla municipality is a typical flat monotonous landscape. The majority of it is at an altitude of about 48 m – 100 m, with a slight slope to the northeast and east. Rocks are the predominant landforms along the Black Sea coast in the south; in the north the terrain is low and swampy at locations. Interesting formations in this section are the sand dunes. Formed of loose sands under the influence of wind[1], they cover an area of over 1300 acres. Beaches with fine but grainy sand and crushed shells have formed. Their total length is about 40 km, due to which the municipality accounts for 22 % of all Black Sea beaches. Their adjacent marine area is definitely low, especially in the section between Shabla Cape and the harbor of the town of Kavarna[2]. There are caves and various underwater niches near Shabla Cape. They are mainly a result of the landslide, landfall, abrasive and accumulation processes, which are typical for this part of Bulgaria.
