    Water resource

The municipality of Shabla is distinguished mainly by groundwater and less by surface running rivers. Through its territory Shablenska River runs, as well as some other smaller rivers in which bed only temporary runoff is formed at rainfall. However, the most characteristic and significant hydrographic resource is the Black Sea and Shabla, Ezerets and Durankulak Lakes. Shabla and Durankulak Lakes are important wetlands. They are closed firths, formed by the flooding of old valleys with seawater. Over time bays were formed, separated from the sea by sandy hair, which later turned into lakes. Near Shabla Lake is located Shablenska Tuzla, which is a deposit of healing sea mud.

Water from the mineral springs in the area is another hydrological resource. Its chemical composition makes it suitable for treatment of disorders of the locomotor system, disorders of the peripheral nervous system and non-specific diseases of the respiratory ways - by inhalation.
